This space, Koinonia Narrative, was born out of Rick & Thiersten’s desire to share the ongoing story of knowing God and being known by Him with everyone they meet. They hope for this to be an environment of grace + mercy where Jesus can be encountered and rich thoughts + dialogue can be shared.
Rick and Thiersten have both known since their teenage years that they would be in ministry full-time and in 2015 the Lord led them to transition from their careers in banking and education to full-time ministry. Since then, they have been working diligently to cultivate their life-long assignment: Knowing Him, Being Known, Making Him Known. As a family, they exist to see the Bride of Christ enter into deep and intimate friendship with God, vulnerability and unity with one another and boldness in declaring the unsearchable riches of Christ to every people group. Their mission is to spend their lives telling God’s story of love, redemption, and the restoration of all things until He returns to the earth to rule and reign in His eternal Kingdom!
The Bowdens have the supreme joy in living out their divine assignment in Kansas City, MO at the International House of Prayer, Kansas City where they serve as full-time missionaries. IHOPKC is an international missions organization committed to 24/7 worship and prayer for the release of the fullness of God’s power and purpose in the earth as they actively win the lost, heal the sick, feed the poor, make disciples and impact every sphere of society.
On the base, Rick serves on worship/prayer teams that facilitate impactful and enjoyable prayer meetings in the Global Prayer Room (GPR). Thiersten serves with the Children’s Equipping Center , which equips and releases children to be wholeheartedly devoted to God and live in His love.
Some of the most exciting works of justice that Rick and Thiersten get to do together include leading the Justice Think Tank that reports directly to the Executive Leadership Team of IHOPKC and serves to collect data, provide recommendations, and design responses to needs that promote greater friendship and unity for their local spiritual family.
Additionally, Thiersten and Rick serve on the leadership team of the African American Forerunner Alliance (AAFA)- contending for God’s purposes to be released in black believers. The AAFA holds an annual gathering in Kansas City, MO called the STAND Conference. Find out more about AAFA and STAND here.
“Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.”
